Over the weekend, I was invited to Gorman Heritage Farm for a special event with Goose Island. Attendees were invited to move our way through various stations that included outdoor beer lounges and a mystery beer bar tucked away inside a yurt (yes… a yurt.)

While I love my wine (hence the last name…) I’m also a huge craft beer lover, so this was right up my alley.

We tasted our way throughout the farm with various food pairings, live music from CAAMP, and s’mores by the fire. We also got the opportunity to drink a few not-publicly-available beers with Rhinegeist as well – talk about an experience. It was seriously cool.

Excuse me while I go out and buy Kroger out of Goose Island’s Sophie – a limited release saison that I seriously think is my new favorite beer.

A New Classic: Faux Leather Pleats

I mentioned last week that when the ladies of Thread and I headed to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets a few weeks ago, I was on the hunt for a faux leather skirt. I knew I wanted to hit J.Crew Factory, because they never disappoint when it comes to classics (like this flannel). They came through for me yet again with a twist on classic pleats.

The perfect OTK boot

If you caught yesterday’s post, you know I recently took a trip to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets with the ladies of Thread. While I didn’t share ’em yesterday, I think these black OTK boots are my favorite purchase (and best deal) from my shopping spree.

dress & necklace: Gabes // boots: Nine West Outlet (similar here)// Lip: NARS Satin Lip Pencil in ‘Rikugiuen’

I found this pretty cold-shoulder LBD on my recent trip to the grand opening of Gabes in Florence and I’ve styled it a ton of different ways already (earlier on with booties). I’m pretty sure this dress was under $15 – it doesn’t get better than that.

I love these suede OTK boots. The best part? They were marked down well under their original price – I knew I had to have them.

Don’t forget! You can enter to win your own shopping spree at a Simon Outlet near you! Here’s how:

Fall Style with Gabes

If you know me at all, you probably know what a huge fan and advocate I am of shopping at Gabriel Brothers (aka Gabes).

If at this point you’re asking yourself what the hell is this place – let me enlighten you (and change your shopping world): Gabes is an extreme value fashion and home retailer and has been a first-choice for this frugal fashionista for years. They operate stores in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Tennessee. I was first introduced to the store by the original frugal fashionista; my mother, and have been an advocate of theirs for the better part of my life.

Still confused? Think: Steve Madden calf hair booties for under $30, and other name brands like Express, 7 For All Man Kind, Juicy, Nannette Lapore, Michael Kors, to name a few I’ve seen over the years.

You can imagine my excitement when they asked me to check out their brand new store in Florence, KY and do some shopping! I was immediately impressed with the 50,000+ sq. ft. store. It was very clean, well-organized and bright. Plus, they had an amazing selection of on-trend pieces at legitimately unbeatable prices.

Sweater & Jeans: Gabes – I didn’t recognize the brand on the turtleneck but the jeans are originally Express and I snagged ’em for under $20! // Heels: Target (last year – similar) // Bracelets: F21 // Lip: MAC ‘Rebel’

Whenever I hit stores with particularly large selections, I always try to make a list of specific pieces (or ideas) I want to add to my wardrobe. Dark wash denim can never be passed up (you can never have too many pairs of jeans, right!?) and I’d been wanting a cream sleeveless turtleneck for the fall, too!

I’m super excited to have a few more looks from my day at the Florence Gabes to share with you coming next week! I HIGHLY recommend you check out the new store – it’s!

Friday Faves

Happy Friday, ya’ll! I’m super excited for this Friday in particular because I’m heading to the motherland Athens to celebrate Homecoming. I’m probably most excited about the foods I plan to consume – Bagel Street Deli, O’Betty’s, Courtside Pizza to name a few – but also to see some of my favorite friends and really just to be back on the brick streets. We didn’t really get to celebrate our anniversary because we were both working, so heading back to where we met will be a much-welcomed trip.

I wanted to also share a few life lately snaps:

My look from the Style + Sustainability Gala last weekend – full post coming on this one next week!

Gorgeous sunset at a work event earlier this week.

Stickers from some of my favorite local breweries.

Brisket tacos. ‘Nuff said.

Gorgeous view from our anniversary dinner last night.

I’ve got an extensive wish list for fall/winter including:

Have a great weekend!

Cincygram: Style + Sustainability Gala

Since moving to the ‘Nati, I’ve loved making this city my home. Moving to a new city means discovering new favorites whether that be coffee shops, restaurants, local bars or boutique shops. Thankfully, Cincy has no shortage of any of those things.

I was so lucky to find a group of amazing blogger bffs in the ladies of Thread Cincinnati. As a group, we’re always looking for new trends, shops and events for the latest and greatest. On Saturday (October 1), we’re attending the Style + Sustainability Gala.

What’s that you might ask? Well, Modern Makers and Urban Blooms are teaming up to bring a sustainable and collaborative fashion experience right here in Cincinnati. The Uptown Innovation District will present their largest event of the year that will bring together a diverse audience to look at the growing sustainability and growing fashion scene right here in our city.

Come shop, eat, and dance in the industrial space showcasing a moss catwalk, 25 designers, 60+ models, local vendors, food trucks, and living walls by Urban Blooms!

Find more information about the  Style & Sustainability Gala on their event page on Facebook or you can purchase tickets on Eventbrite!

Will we see you there? Hope so!

Cincygram: Fashion show with Cincy Chic

On Friday night, several of the fabulous ladies of Thread Cincy (Chelsea, Laura and Carrington) and I headed to Covington for a night of delicious food and fashion (aka everything a girl wants, right!?).

We started the night at Frida 602, which is a Tequila & Mezcal bar featuring Latin street cuisine; located in the heart of historic Mainstrasse.

And LET ME TELL YOU.. it was delicious. I was so impressed with the whole thing. Killer vibes, beautiful interiors (and exteriors!) and the food and drink were delicious!

Even the bathrooms were perfection.

I’m all about a good local restaurant, ad Frida definitely did not disappoint. I’m about to get aggressive here – I think it was the best margarita I’ve ever had in my life. Seriously. Amazing. SO GOOD.

We headed to Performance Lexus in Covington after for the show, but not before snapping a few outfit pics first. Because we’re bloggers and that’s what we do.

The show was put on by  Cincy Chic with Walton Creek Boutique, GKM Designs and Style Room were the featured designers, and each was different from the other, which offered something for everyone.

All in all, a fabulous night with some fabulous ladies!

Oh why oh why oh….

did I leave Ohio…maybe it’s time to go home. Beuller, Beuller? I digress…

After a short hiatus, I’m comin’ atcha from OHIO with a post I’m super excited to share with you guys! First of all, I’m officially an Ohioan again!

Backstory – I have been living in northern Kentucky for the past couple of years, which really is basically Cincinnati, since it’s right across the river. BUT I got a new job a few months ago on the northern side of town, and the drive was slowly killing me, so we relocated. Living out of boxes will hopefully come to an end soon, but for now we’re just happy to be back in the state!

Enter: Clothe Ohio. When they reached out to me, I read a little about the brand and was immediately impressed. I couldn’t think of a better way to welcome myself back to Ohio, than sharing some killer [Ohio] duds for a great cause:

Tee: Clothe Ohio, Skirt: H&M, Wedges: Crown Vintage, Sunglasses: Amazon

Cincinnati Tee: Clothe Ohio c/o, Skirt: H&M, Wedges: Crown Vintage, Sunglasses: Gabes

So what’s the story behind Clothe Ohio? For every piece of clothing you buy, they send a Tshirt or sweatshirt to an Ohioan in need. Pretty awesome, right!? Shopping for a cause is a movement I can certainly get behind.

Sweatshirt: Clothe Ohio c/o, Shorts: Old Navy, Wedges: Crown Vintage, Sunnies: Amazon

I was SUPER excited about this ‘Birthplace of Aviation’ tee. Ya’ll know I’m an #avgeek at heart (hello, my husband is a pilot and I used to also work in the industry) so I had to have it:

Tee: Clothe Ohio c/o, Shorts: Old Navy, Birks: Old Navy

I highly encourage you to go check out Clothe Ohio‘s site, and help some Ohioians in need by purchasing one of their awesome pieces.

Cincy-gram: Weekend in Photos

This weekend was pretty great, if I do say so myself. Some days, you just need an impromptu Sunday Funday with your hubby – which is exactly what we did yesterday.

I started the day solo at the Taft Museum of Art for the Dressing Downton exhibit. It was SO worth it. If you have any interest in fashion at all, I highly suggest checking it out – completely worth the $20.

Fun fact: The fictional Cora Crawley on Downton is Cincinnati-born – so it makes perfect sense they’d bring the exhibit here!

I apologize for the crappy iPhone pics – they do NOT do the gorgeousness of these

After the exhibit, we headed to Hangover Easy for brunch. OU folks, I like to call it a hipster Union Street Diner.

A breakfast sandwich made from a Holtman's donut - doesn't get much better.

After brunch, we headed for an impromptu zoo visit – which was awesome, because fun fact: you can drink in the zoo. GAME CHANGER.

This very cute cheetah in a onesie is adorable. He’s wearing this outfit because he has a feeding tube – these little guys’ momma died and they’re being cared for by the zoo veterinarians.

Hope you had a FANtastic weekend! WHat are your favorite things to do in Cincinnati!?
