The perfect OTK boot

If you caught yesterday’s post, you know I recently took a trip to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets with the ladies of Thread. While I didn’t share ’em yesterday, I think these black OTK boots are my favorite purchase (and best deal) from my shopping spree.

dress & necklace: Gabes // boots: Nine West Outlet (similar here)// Lip: NARS Satin Lip Pencil in ‘Rikugiuen’

I found this pretty cold-shoulder LBD on my recent trip to the grand opening of Gabes in Florence and I’ve styled it a ton of different ways already (earlier on with booties). I’m pretty sure this dress was under $15 – it doesn’t get better than that.

I love these suede OTK boots. The best part? They were marked down well under their original price – I knew I had to have them.

Don’t forget! You can enter to win your own shopping spree at a Simon Outlet near you! Here’s how:

Fall Style with Gabes

If you know me at all, you probably know what a huge fan and advocate I am of shopping at Gabriel Brothers (aka Gabes).

If at this point you’re asking yourself what the hell is this place – let me enlighten you (and change your shopping world): Gabes is an extreme value fashion and home retailer and has been a first-choice for this frugal fashionista for years. They operate stores in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Tennessee. I was first introduced to the store by the original frugal fashionista; my mother, and have been an advocate of theirs for the better part of my life.

Still confused? Think: Steve Madden calf hair booties for under $30, and other name brands like Express, 7 For All Man Kind, Juicy, Nannette Lapore, Michael Kors, to name a few I’ve seen over the years.

You can imagine my excitement when they asked me to check out their brand new store in Florence, KY and do some shopping! I was immediately impressed with the 50,000+ sq. ft. store. It was very clean, well-organized and bright. Plus, they had an amazing selection of on-trend pieces at legitimately unbeatable prices.

Sweater & Jeans: Gabes – I didn’t recognize the brand on the turtleneck but the jeans are originally Express and I snagged ’em for under $20! // Heels: Target (last year – similar) // Bracelets: F21 // Lip: MAC ‘Rebel’

Whenever I hit stores with particularly large selections, I always try to make a list of specific pieces (or ideas) I want to add to my wardrobe. Dark wash denim can never be passed up (you can never have too many pairs of jeans, right!?) and I’d been wanting a cream sleeveless turtleneck for the fall, too!

I’m super excited to have a few more looks from my day at the Florence Gabes to share with you coming next week! I HIGHLY recommend you check out the new store – it’s!

Fall Wishlist with Romwe

Whenever we welcome a new season, I always crave a few new pieces to give my wardrobe a little refresh. I’m definitely trying to be better about shopping my own closet, but what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t a few new [affordable] items? Enter, Romwe. They’ve got fashion-forward pieces at great prices.

1 – grey cardigan // I’m loving the long cardigan trend this season. Layers, layers, layers for colder months, especially in the Midwest. A long cardigan instantly ups your chic-factor.

2 – striped Tshirt dress // I’ve been wanting a nautical striped Tshirt dress for awhile. I love it with a field jacket, blanket scarf and booties. Cl-a-ss-ic.

3 – lace up blouse // I told ya’ll, I’m all about the lace-up trend this year (give me ALL the lace-up things!) I love this oversized version that adds just a hint of sexy.

4 – sweater dress // How many times have I mentioned that I’ve been looking for a chunky off-white sweater dress? It feels like forever, but I’m loving this one. I’d style this one with OTK boots.

5- red sweater // Red has long been my absolute favorite color to wear. A classic red sweater with jeans and boots or booties is a go-to for colder months. I love the little peplum on this one!

How do you update your wardrobe for fall? What are you hoping to add? Share in the comments!

One Dress, Two Ways: Wear it Later

I’m back today to share how I’m going to style this pretty little dress for fall. Seems fitting since today is officially the first day of Fall. PSL, anyone? Brights totally work for cooler weather, but I tend to add darker accessories in order to make them more seasonally appropriate.

Since yesterday I showed you how I styled this pretty LYD for a summer wedding or event, today, we’re fast forwarding to fall:

Dress: SheIn // Vest: Sears (last year, similar here) // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Heels: Steve Madden (last year, similar) // Bag: Dooney & Bourke (old, similar here)

I got this faux leather vest last year and it’s right on trend for this year, too. I styled this dress for a dressier occasion, but it would also look super cute dressed down with black booties.

Summer Tunic

My mom came across this pretty blue and green tunic while we were browsing at the Charleston City Market during our trip. I loved it so much I tried it on right on the spot and took it home and wore it while on our trip.

Tunic: Charleston City Market (silimar here, love this off-shoulder version here), Shorts: Old Navy (similar here and under $10!), Wedges & Bag: DSW (similar bag – under $30!), Sunnies: Amazon

Though the weather is indeed turning here (by turning I mean it’s not 90 anymore, trust me, I’m far from rushing into fall!) this pretty tunic is still on rotation (I told ya’ll, I’m holding onto summer!) and will pair just as well with white or ever dark wash denim. Hashtag versatility.

A note on this clutch. It also has a cross-body strap on it making it possibly the most versatile bag I have. It goes with everything! It’s definitely a bag I think you need in your life.

Maxed Out

I don’t know about you, but my favorite thing to do in the summer when getting dressed is to throw on an easy maxi dress and sandals, grab my reversible tote and walk out the door. It’s the perfect recipe for no stress dressing.

Dress: Make Me Chic c/o, Bag: Nordstrom, Necklace: Charlie Boutique, Wedges: Crown Vintage via DSW, Sunnies: Amazon

Dress: Make Me Chic c/o, Bag: Nordstrom, Necklace: Charlie Boutique, Wedges: Crown Vintage via DSW, Sunnies: Amazon

I’m seriously loving the blue color of this dress, and how comfortable it is. It’s perfect for a day of errands, and will also be perfect for beach walks in a few weeks. The best part!? IT HAS POCKETS! Yep, you need it.

Casual Cool

It’s that time of year when it’s hotter than satan’s toenails during the day, but still cool in the evenings, which makes the look I’m sharing today perfect for a casual night out or date night (Rhinegeist rooftop, anyone!?)

Jacket: Forever 21, Tank: Express, Jeans & Clutch: Old Navy (purchased approx. 1 year apart), Heels: Charlotte Russe

Jacket: Forever 21 (similar here), Tank: Express, Jeans & Clutch: Old Navy (purchased approx. 1 year apart), Heels: Charlotte Russe (similar and here)

I linked this year’s version of this Old Navy clutch. It’s got a shoulder strap and it the perfect clutch to add a pop of color to any look.

These lace-up heels are comfortable and can be dressed up or down, which you KNOW I’m all about.

70s Flares

At 5’2″, I am loving the flared denim trend. Yes, you read that right. Throw on a pair of platforms and it looks like my legs are a mile long. It’s all an illusion. I popped into Old Navy a couple weeks ago to take advantage of my Supercash, and I found the best pieces (even more on that coming in the next few weeks) including these flared and pink lace top.

Top & Flares: Old Navy, Platform Heels: Ugg (old)

Top (under $30!) & Flares: Old Navy, Platform Heels: Ugg (old – here are a similar pair), Bracelet: Vintage (was my grandmothers), Lip: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Melancholia’

The only downside to this top is that it’s a linen-blend and wrinkles pretty much immediately. I literally steamed this right before shooting it and it still looks wrinkled! Such is life, the top is still super cute. It’ll also pair perfectly with my favorite white skinnies and wedges.

A note on the fit of these jeans… I am 5″2′ and usually a regular length pant is the perfect length to wear with heels HOWEVER, this pair in my opinion runs long. I am wearing a petite with platforms here and they’re the perfect length, so keep in mind if you decide to order!

How do you wear your favorite flares!? Please do share!
