What to Wear on Thanksgiving

Can I first start by saying, how did we get here!? Seriously, how is Thanksgiving just one week away? It feels like it was just our anniversary (Oct. 3) and now here we are on the precipice of the holiday season.

So what does one wear to Thanksgiving!? At my house, we are very casual when celebrating the holiday (my mom cooks at my parents house) so we don’t actually go anywhere. When it comes to the bird day, I like to keep it casual, but chic.

I think I love this look so much because not only is it comfy (which allows you to each as much turkey as your little heart desires) but it’s also made up of fall classics; OTK boots, a swing dress and a blanket scarf. You actually cannot go wrong with this combo.

What are your Thanksgiving plans? I’d love to hear + what you plan to wear!

What to Wear to… A fall wedding

It’s officially officially fall, ya’ll. The weather is getting cooler, but wedding season is in full swing.

When going from summer to fall, I always start by wearing darker colors. I love this purple lace dress from no other than Gabes! This pretty purple would also look great with my forest green pumps, too!

What to wear to.. Your Rehearsal Dinner

When I was in the process of wedding planning this time last year, one thing I focused on (sorry, not sorry) was what I would wear to my various wedding activities – two bridal showers, my bachelortte party, the rehearsal dinner – and the list goes on.

Frugal fashionista‘ being my mantra, I was very cost conscious when picking what I would wear, because it adds up very quickly if you don’t want to repeat looks. I’ve been loving this dress (in all colors) this year, but the price tag!? Ha. No. I happened up on this version at TJ Maxx, of all places for UNDER $30. Yes, you read that right. The price meant it was coming home with me, no doubt.

I SO wish I’d had this pretty lace number (and these shoes, for that matter) for my rehearsal dinner. BUT it will also be perfect for any summer event (a white party, for example!) or any non-wedding event (unless it’s your own!).

What to wear to… 4th of July

It’s that time of year again! Break out your red, white and blue, lather on the sunscreen and heat up the grill. I’m not gona lie, 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. I don’t know if it’s the grilling out, laying by the pool or if it’s just such a quintessentially summer holiday, but I love it.

So, what do you wear for the 4th!? Obviously red white and blue, – and for me that means gingham! It seems I wear a good bit of our country’s colors more than just on Independence Day, so I thought I’d curate a few of my favorite red white and blue looks:

A little something for anything you have planned on July 4th – I hope it’s fantastic, whatever you do!

What to wear to… Memorial Day

Ok so… Memorial Day is not an actual destination, but you get the drift It’s definitely a holiday in which we should pay tribute to and remember the fallen. So I tend to dress at least somewhat Patriotic.

Memorial Day for me also serves at the gateway to summertime, and what better to ring in the best part of the year than in a gingham matching set!?

You may have seen how I styled the shorts in another patriotic look here, but wanted to wait to break out the matching set until it was a.

I will be the first to admit I was initially skeptical that I could actually pull off a matching set. But when I noticed the Old Navy near my house had them both in stock, I absolutely had to at least try it on. I immediately loved how cute this looked and had to have it.

I love the buttons up the back of the tank. Such a fun little detail:

This pretty little set is going to be on heavy rotation (it already is!) In fact, I packed it for my little trip to the Southwest, so you’ll likely be seeing it in a recap post in the next couple of weeks.

What to Wear to…The Kentucky Derby

Happy Thursday and happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope you’re getting some margs and all the chips and salsa your little heart can handle. #carbz

As a Kentuckian, I feel it’s my duty to share a post about the Kentucky Derby, which is coming up this weekend! So I decided my second post on my What to Wear to.. series needed to be a little Derby inspo! It’s a great tradition not only in our state, but all over the country, enthusiasts are donning their Derby finest and prepping a batch of Mint Juleps.

Last night, I went to a fun Derby hat making party with Gild Collective at Braxton Brewery. It was an awesome night of good beer and crafting. Turns out, you don’t have to spend a fortune on a fancy hat you’ll only wear once, you can simply make your own that you can reuse – with a beach hat and some faux flowers!

Had so much fun making hats with these lovely ladies, including Liz from 26 & Counting. The best part is that it’s not too late to create a hat like this, head to your local craft store and you can find all the supplies!

So, now you’re asking yourself, what do I wear with this over-the-top hat? Easy enough. Just find your favorite Spring-y dress and add some fun jewels!

What to wear to… a country concert

I’m super excited to announce a new blog series ‘What to wear to…” If you’re like me, you often go to different events, like weddings, different showers, sporting events, etc. and you’re just not sure exactly what to wear. I hope to help you answer that age old question.

In today’s case, it’s a country concert. What does one wear to a Spring country concert? It’s probably not warm enough for your obligatory cut-offs and a tee (or maybe, like me, that’s just not your style). I don’t know about you but wearing a tied up flannel? No thanks, too old for that.

Seth and I are actually heading to see Garth Brooks this weekend, so I actually am doing to be dressing for a country concert. I figured this was as good a time as any to give you a little inspiration.

Since it won’t be super warm Saturday pre-concert, and will probably be pretty hot inside the venue, I’m all about layering.

DSC_0498

I picked up these boots when Seth and I were in Nashville for my birthday last year, and I absolutely love them. Cowboy boots are usually my thing, but I love breaking them out for concerts and casual country weddings.

The fringe on these babies makes them so much fun, and the lining (which you can kind of see in the above photo) is so pretty. Plus you can do this:

I mean… so fun right!?

These boots would also look really cute with your favorite skinnies and a flowy white top as well (I’m still considering going with that look as well – it’ll be a game-time weather-permitting decision.
